The Journal of Information Technology & Politics publishes theory-driven research on the relationship between information technology and politics. The journal examines how digital media, platforms, data, algorithms, networks, and computational systems shape political behavior, public opinion, political communication, institutions, governance, power, and conflict—and how political actors and institutions shape the development, regulation, and use of technology. JITP ’s primary disciplinary home is political science, but it welcomes theoretically engaged work across political science, mass communication, sociology, economics, geography, international relations, and related fields. The journal is especially interested in scholarship that uses information technology to move broader theoretical debates forward. It is less focused on narrowly applied research, descriptive case studies, e-government implementation, bureaucratic uses of IT, or practitioner-oriented evaluations unless they make a clear theoretical contribution to the study of politics and technology. The journal publishes original research articles, research notes, workbench notes on tools for research and teaching, pedagogical articles with broader theoretical or methodological relevance, and reviews of major books on information technology and politics. Peer Review Policy: Journal of Information Technology & Politics manuscripts undergo a double anonymized review process by at least two independent referees.
