About the Journal The Journal of Infection in Developing Countries (JIDC) is the official publication of the Journal of Infection in Developing Countries Non-Profit Organization, produced in collaboration with Linee di Confine, a Non-Profit Organization dedicated to advancing equitable access to scientific knowledge. JIDC is an independent, peer-reviewed, open-access journal governed by a distinguished international editorial board. All content is freely available to read and download at no cost, with reasonable publication fees for research articles — ensuring that scientists and researchers from resource-limited settings can participate fully in the global scientific community. The Journal publishes original research papers, research notes, and comprehensive reviews spanning multiple disciplines, including human, animal, and environmental Microbiology, Immunology, and Virology, with a focused emphasis on infections prevalent in developing countries. Priority is given to studies addressing emerging and re-emerging etiological agents, advances in diagnostic methodologies, epidemiological trends, and public health policy implications. The JIDC Mentoring System Central to JIDC's mission is its pioneering mentoring program, which sets the journal apart from other international publications. Recognizing that submitted manuscripts may require editorial refinement, JIDC maintains a dedicated Mentor Committee — a specialized team of editorial experts committed to collaborating directly with authors from developing countries to bring their work to international publication standards. This collaborative process may encompass English language editing, structural reorganization of the manuscript, and expert guidance on experimental design and methodology. Through this interactive partnership, the Mentor Committee and authors work together not only to produce manuscripts that meet the highest global standards, but also to foster the exchange of knowledge and best practices that empower researchers to publish successfully in other leading international journals. The JIDC Mentor Committee stands as a singular initiative among international scientific journals, purpose-built to bridge the editorial gap faced by researchers in developing countries. Indexing & Impact JIDC is indexed in Scopus and Thomson Reuters and carries an official Journal Citation Reports (JCR) Impact Factor. The Impact Factor for 2025 is 1.2.
