The Journal of Global Slavery (JGS) advances the study of slavery and post-slavery from comparative, transregional, and global perspectives. It publishes original research on the institutions, practices, experiences, and legacies of slavery and enslavement from antiquity to the present, as well as work addressing the methodological, theoretical, and conceptual challenges involved in their study. The journal particularly emphasizes both the global diversity of slavery and its role as a globalizing force in world history.
