Heimen is the main Norwegian journal for research in local and regional history. The journal is aimed both at researchers in this field and general readers with an interest in local and regional history. The journal publishes studies of local communities or phenomena that can shed light on broader areas and questions. Through articles, debate and book reviews, the journal seek to present contributions from all over Norway, but is also open for relevant international contributions. Heimen has been the main forum for The National Assosiation for Local History since 1922, and is aimed at historians, humanists and sociologists, students, history teachers and general readers interested in history. The journal is published by Scandinavian University Press on behalf of The National Assosiation for Local History and with the support of Nasjonalt tidsskriftkonsortium for humaniora og samfunnsvitenskap. Heimen is published quarterly. From 2017, the journal is published with open access. Peer review All research articles that are considered relevant for publication in the journal are reviewed by at least two anonymous academic referees with no ties to the author. In addition, the article is reviewed by the journal's editorial board and the final decision regarding publication of the article is made by the Editor-in-Chief. The journal practices "double blind" peer review, whereby both reviewers and the author remain anonymous to each other. The journal does not ask for any fees for assessment or publication. Indexing The journal is covered by the following indexing and discovery services: ERIH PLUS SHERPA/RoMEO Google Scholar Primo Central Index (Ex Libris) Oria The Summon Service (Ex Libris) Ebsco Discovery Services WorldCat (OCLC) All content in this journal is also exported to Portico, a preservation archive that safeguards perpetual access to e-journals, e-books, and digital collections. The journal is authorized as a publication channel on level 1 in NSD – Norwegian Centre for Research Data (for Norway and Sweden), in the Danish Ministry of Higher Education and Science’s Authorization list for serials (Denmark), and in Publication Forum (Finland).
