Genetics and Molecular Biology (formerly named Revista Brasileira de Genética / Brazilian Journal of Genetics) is published by the Sociedade Brasileira de Genética (Brazilian Society of Genetics). Genetics and Molecular Biology begins with vol. 21, issue 1, of March 1998, following the sequence of numbering of its predecessor (Brazilian Journal of Genetics), which was published from 1978 to 1997, V. 1 to V. 20. Please contact the journal´s Editorial Office concerning the availability of articles published in these 20 first volumes. Genetics and Molecular Biology publishes four regular issues per year and a variable number of special issues on topics selected by the editors. Articles are made available in full content at SciELO (Scientific Library Online) hosted at www.scielo.br/gmb. Back issues dating from 1998 are available through this site. Articles published since 2009 are also indexed at PubMed Central, and are available open access as a full text version. Open Access The journal follows the Gold Open Access model, providing unrestricted virtual access (including financial restrictions) to all scientific texts published by the journal. Under this condition, the copyright holder of a scholarly work grants usage rights to others using an open license (Creative Commons Attribution - CC-BY) allowing for immediate free access to the work and permitting any user to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of articles, crawl them for indexing, pass them as data to software, or use them for any other lawful purpose. Open Science The authors are requested to inform: (a) whether the manuscript is a preprint and, if so, its URL location; (b) whether data, software codes and other materials underlying the manuscript text are properly cited and referenced; and, (c) whether this material is open for access to the reviewers during the peer reviewing process. Authors are encouraged to make available, previously or at the time of publication, all content (data, software codes and other materials) underlying the manuscript text. Such material should preferably be deposited in publicly accessible databases (NCBI, Zenodo, SciELO Data, or in institutional repositories that permit public access). Exceptions are possible in cases of legal and ethical issues.
