Fuels publishes papers covering a broad range of areas including, but not limited to, the following: Conventional fuels: Solid fuels: wood, charcoal, biomass, coal, peat, coke, solid waste, etc. Liquid fuels: petroleum, LNG, LPG, biofuel, alcohols, hydrogen, etc. Gaseous fuels: natural gas, shale gas, coal-bed methane, water gas, syngas, biogas, blast furnace gas, hydrogen, etc. Sustainable and future fuels: Alternative fuels: biomass, biofuel, biodiesel, advanced biofuels, synthetic fuels, etc. Hydrogen-based fuels: hydrogen from electrolysis, ammonia as a hydrogen carrier, etc. Aviation fuels: sustainable aviation fuels (SAFs), bio-jet fuels, synthetic aviation fuels Fuel cells: hydrogen fuel cells, direct carbon fuel cells, etc. Solar fuels: fuels derived from solar energy processes, including artificial photosynthesis Environmental impact and mitigation: Emission control and remediation technologies Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) Sustainability metrics and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) Fuel technology: Conversion technologies: catalysis, gasification, pyrolysis, reforming, cracking, etc. Electrochemical conversion: electrolysis, fuel synthesis via electrochemical pathways, carbon dioxide reduction, advancements in electrocatalysis, etc. Advanced synthesis and production methods Fuel characterization: physical, chemical, and thermodynamic characterization of fuels Fuel processing: Refining, upgrading, and separation technologies for fuels Fuel storage, distribution, and handling technologies, including hydrogen storage Combustion and engine performance: combustion processes, engine performance analysis, and emissions from fuel combustion Emerging fields: Hybrid energy systems: the integration of renewable energy with conventional fuel systems Policy-related, regulatory, and economic considerations in fuel technology development Moreover, Special Issues that fit within the wider scope of the journal are occasionally published.
