European Policy Analysis publishes theoretical and empirical research that advances international policy process scholarship. The journal is committed to contributions that are explicitly grounded in and contribute to the international literature on policy processes, public policy theories, and governance research. The journal defines its European focus in two complementary ways. First, it welcomes research on European political systems, European Union policymaking, and other European or transnational institutions, including comparative analyses across European countries. Second, it seeks to promote European perspectives on policy process research. This includes theoretical, conceptual, and methodological approaches that have been developed in European contexts and that contribute to international debates, whether applied to European cases or to other regions of the world. Submissions must demonstrate clear engagement with international policy process theories and debates. This includes the application, refinement, comparison, or development of theoretical frameworks within the broader policy process tradition. Contributions that draw on European theoretical traditions and methodological innovations are particularly encouraged, especially when they advance comparative or cross-regional dialogue. European Policy Analysis publishes theoretically informed empirical studies, conceptual contributions, and methodological work that enhance understanding of policy dynamics and governance processes. Manuscripts that are primarily descriptive, normative, or insufficiently connected to international policy process scholarship fall outside the journal’s scope.
