Cogent Arts & Humanities is a leading multidisciplinary, peer-reviewed open access journal, publishing research across the breadth of the arts and humanities. Part of Taylor & Francis / Routledge, the journal has a mission to make research and knowledge accessible to all – authors therefore benefit from high visibility and readership for their work. The journal’s broad scope allows researchers to explore interconnected subject areas. The journal operates under the expert guidance of a team of Senior Editors, supported by an international Editorial Board. Each submission is evaluated on its own scholarly merit and research integrity, and our expert academic editors take an objective and constructive approach to peer review. Article-level metrics let the research speak for itself. Cogent Arts & Humanities considers original research and review articles in the following sections and broad topical areas: Communication Studies Addresses research on the systems and processes of human communication and media dynamics, as well as their production, reception and impact on societal discourse, culture, and behaviour. This includes, but is not restricted to, traditional fields such as journalism, broadcast media, advertising, and propaganda, as well as newer and emerging digital media technologies such as social media, podcasts and videogames. Works on specialised approaches to communication, such as health communication, environmental communication, and political communication, are also encouraged. Culture, Media & Film Explores a wide range of areas that fall under the interrelated disciplines of Cultural, Media and Film Studies. We particularly welcome contributions that take critical and interdisciplinary approaches in exploring theories, practices and phenomena relating to one or more of the following: Areas within Cultural Studies: these include (but are not restricted to) issues relating to society and popular culture (e.g. gaming, fashion, celebrity and fan cultures, influencers, consumer culture, dating), subcultures (e.g. nightlife, punks, bikers), and digital cultures (e.g. hashtag activism, emojis, memes). Areas within Media Studies: these include (but are not restricted to) issues relating to media audiences (e.g. fans, followers, viewers), media institutions and producers (e.g. streaming platforms, major social media platforms), and media texts (e.g. adverts, music, radio, comics, social media posts, websites).
