CLEAN – Soil, Air, Water is a broad, multidisciplinary journal with a central focus on the environment. CLEAN publishes peer-reviewed scientific reviews, research papers, and short communications. We are an author-friendly journal, providing a forum for evidence-based views and sound research. We aim to review all submissions, and our evaluations look for reasons to publish, not reject. We are open to a wide range of topics including Earth sciences, environmental health, ecotoxicology, environmental chemistry, sustainability, human-environment interactions, planetary health, and research on soil, water, and atmospheric sciences. Papers should focus on the environmental aspect of their research problem, and we are welcome both fundamental and applied research. Topics covered by the journal include but are not limited to: Human-environment interactions including the environmental impacts of land use (including forestry, agriculture, and urbanization); waste management; and environmental risk assessment. Sustainability research and sustainable systems, including environmental resilience; renewable energy; sustainable agriculture; environmental impacts of sustainable alternatives Chemistry of environmental pollutants in air, soil and water, including fate and transport of pollutants; interactions between contaminants and the environment; novel and historical contaminant assessments Environmental health, including the toxicology of environmental contaminants in humans and animals; individual and population level impacts on wildlife; risk assessment; intersections between the environment and human health Environmental monitoring and analysis including environmental risk assessment; advances in air/soil/water monitoring; Earth sciences, including soil biogeochemistry; geophysics; biogeosciences Air and atmospheric science including air pollution and air quality, atmospheric chemistry Water and hydrology including water resources; desalination; eco-hydrology; Climate science including the environmental impacts of climate change; mitigation; climate adaptation; extreme weather Ocean Sciences including coastal impacts; hazards; oceanography Environmental remediation of soil and water as well as related engineering technologies including physico-chemical and bioremediation Author Friendly Philosophy Our journal follows an author friendly approach exemplified by another journal at Wiley, Ecology and Evolution.
