Cell Reports Sustainability, a gold open access journal from Cell Press, publishes high-quality research and discussion that contribute to understanding and responding to environmental, social-ecological, technological, and energy- and health-related challenges. In doing so, the journal will provide a new home for accessible cross-disciplinary and collaborative research.We are interested in research on a wide range of sustainability-relevant topics that include but are not limited to:Environmental justice and ethicsBiodiversity and ecosystem servicesOcean and coastal sustainabilityEnvironmental pollutionClimate adaptation and mitigationLand use changeUrban studiesEnvironmental healthEnergyEngineeringNature and technology-based solutionsIndustrial ecologyGeological resourcesFood systemsWater resourcesGovernance and policyFinance and economicsWe welcome submissions that report conceptual or methodological advances from the natural and social sciences as well as the humanities, and we are open to disciplinary as well as inter- and transdisciplinary contributions.Like other journals in the Cell Reports family, we publish original research in two formats: brief and impactful single-point stories called reports and longer, complex stories called articles. We also publish reviews that synthesize knowledge from emerging and active fields, in addition to the occasional thought-provoking and timely commentary.The professional in-house scientific editors at Cell Reports Sustainability work closely with authors, reviewers, and the journal's scientific advisory board to ensure exemplary editorial process, fair and robust peer review, and rapid dissemination and communication of research.
