ARENA HUKUM is a peer-reviewed legal journal that provides a critical academic forum for the development of legal scholarship with a distinctive emphasis on Indonesia. It seeks to enrich legal discourses by publishing research that not only meets international academic standards but also reflects the complexities, challenges, and innovations within Indonesia’s legal landscape. The journal embraces the diversity of Indonesia’s legal traditions—including civil law influences, customary (adat) law, Islamic law, and statutory law—and encourages studies that explore how these systems interact, overlap, or evolve in response to domestic and global developments. It recognizes law as both a normative and socio-cultural institution, deeply embedded in Indonesia’s plural society and its democratic transition. With a focus on justice, legal certainty, and expediency as foundational principles, ARENA HUKUM publishes works that analyze the legal implications of state policy, institutional reform, economic transformation, digital innovation, and environmental governance. Topics of interest include civil and criminal law reform, constitutional and administrative law dynamics, the role of international law in national legislation, and Indonesia’s approach to transnational legal issues. Moreover, the ARENA HUKUM encourages contributions that revisit classical legal doctrines through the lens of Indonesian legal history and contemporary practice. By situating Indonesia within broader regional and global legal transformations, ARENA HUKUM aims to provide a meaningful scholarly space for rethinking the role of law in shaping just, inclusive, and responsive societies. It welcomes contributions that adopt interdisciplinary approaches, empirical insights, and normative critiques—particularly those that bridge local realities with international legal discourse.
