Founded in 1919 as the Journal of Industrial Hygiene—and later known as the Archives of Environmental Health—AEOH has been at the forefront of research connecting environmental and occupational conditions to human health for more than a century. AEOH addresses timely and impactful topics such as the health effects of occupational exposures, the environmental determinants of disease, and the psychosocial factors shaping modern workplaces. Throughout its long history, the journal has remained a trusted and objective source of evidence on how environmental and occupational factors influence human health—informing both research and real-world decision-making. The journal publishes high-quality international research across disciplines central to environmental and occupational health, including epidemiology, toxicology (with an emphasis on human studies), and occupational exposures. To encourage diverse forms of scholarly communication, AEOH welcomes submissions in the following formats: Full-Length Manuscripts: Up to 4,000 words (excluding references). Brief Communications: Concise articles of 1,500 words or fewer, with a maximum of two illustrations. These may include timely analyses or commentaries on emerging issues. Case Studies: In-depth presentations of clinically novel evaluations of significant environmental or occupational topic (2000 words excluding references) Consensus papers, guidelines from scientific societies, systematic reviews and meta-analyses may be accepted following prior correspondence with the Editor (4,000 words excluding references).
