Anthropology and Humanism engages with the fundamental question at the heart of anthropology: what it means to be human. The journal welcomes contributions that arise from anthropological perspectives while embracing the creative and critical insights of related fields. It seeks to explore the intricate, often contradictory dimensions of human existence through the lens of anthropological thought and practice. We welcome work that reveals the textures of life — its relationships, ruptures, and resilience. Expressed through ethnography, creative practices, multimodal experimentation, or narrative inquiry, Anthropology and Humanism places the human actor at its center, always within the fluid and relational web of meaning and connection. The journal is a space to reflect on the depth and complexity of living, to consider the creative ways humans make and remake their worlds, and to push the boundaries of what anthropological storytelling can be. To this end, Anthropology and Humanism publishes work in a variety of genres, including fiction and creative nonfiction, poetry, drama, and multimodal essays, as well as more conventional articles and reviews. The journal publishes semi-annually by the Society for Humanistic Anthropology.
