Annals of General Psychiatry publishes open access research across the full breadth of psychiatry, mental health, behavioural science, and psychological medicine, including translational and clinical neuroscience. The journal welcomes research that advances the understanding, prevention, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of mental disorders and mental wellbeing across the lifespan and in diverse populations and care settings. The journal emphasises a biopsychosocial and evidence-based approach to mental health and illness, and supports rigorous methodology, transparent reporting, and reproducible research. We welcome basic, translational, clinical, epidemiological, population-based, and health services research that contributes to improved understanding, care, outcomes, and policy in mental health. The journal considers a broad range of study types, including clinical trials, observational studies, cohort and registry studies, real-world evidence, epidemiological research, systematic reviews and meta-analyses, evidence synthesis, psychometric and measurement studies, diagnostic and validation studies, implementation and health services research, methodological research, and computational and data-driven approaches. The journal welcomes scientifically rigorous studies that provide clinically, scientifically, or policy-relevant insights, including confirmatory findings, negative results, real-world evidence studies, and research conducted in specific populations, healthcare systems, or geographical settings. Topics include, but are not limited to: Clinical psychiatry across the lifespan, including child and adolescent, perinatal, adult, geriatric, and neurocognitive psychiatry Mood disorders, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive and related disorders, trauma- and stress-related disorders, psychotic disorders, bipolar disorders, personality disorders, eating disorders, substance use disorders, neurodevelopmental disorders, and complex psychiatric comorbidity Severe mental illness, dual diagnosis, multimorbidity, and psychiatric manifestations of physical illness Suicide, self-harm, crisis intervention, psychiatric emergencies, and suicide prevention Epidemiology, prevention, risk factors, early intervention, resilience, and population mental health Psychopharmacology, medication safety, comparative effectiveness research, and real-world treatment outcomes Psychotherapies, behavioural interventions, psychosocial treatments, and recovery-orien
