Anais do Museu Paulista publishes theoretical and monographic articles that bring to discussion topics related to material culture as a mediator of social practices, as well as innovative approaches to historical, museological, and conservation processes. The journal has six sections: Debates, Material Culture Studies, Museums, Conservation and Restoration, Documents, and Reviews. The Debates section presents works of a conceptual and methodological nature or potentially controversial thematic reviews. The base text is accompanied by comments and a response from the invited author. The Material Culture Studies section focuses on this theme from multiple disciplinary approaches, coming, for example, from history, anthropology, archaeology, art history, architecture, urbanism, geography, and sociology. The Museums section presents articles that integrate the approach of the field of material culture with the specific contexts of museums and museology, such as curatorial issues related to exhibitions, audience studies, documentary systems, institutional collecting, educational practices, etc. Conservation and Restoration bring together works that explore conceptual debates, research, and innovative techniques in the recovery of documentary sources, especially objects, buildings, landscapes, and iconography. The Documents section welcomes articles that problematize the organization and approach of material, visual, and textual sources that have received treatment in museums or similar institutions. The last section publishes reviews. Reviews must present works published in Portuguese in the area of History or related sciences. They must contain their own title in Portuguese and English, and present: editorial data, objectives and methodology, main arguments and conclusions. If citations are made, they must reference the exact page. Going beyond the limits of a simple summary, the review must provide a critical analysis of the work, its impact on historiography and insertion in the debates on the subject treated, as well as the audience to which it is intended. There must be no advisory relationship established between reviewer and reviewed author. Submitted articles must be unpublished in print or electronic media, except those made available in preprint repositories, and their simultaneous submission for evaluation in another journal in Brazil or abroad is not allowed.
