Adaptation is the leading international, peer-reviewed journal of adaptation studies. The journal actively contributes to the development and visibility of adaptation studies as a field of academic enquiry and seeks to advance methodological approaches to the process. It invites a range of interdisciplinary perspectives including (but not limited to) Film and Screen Studies, Literary Criticism, Visual and Performing Arts, and New Media and Transmedia Storytelling. Topics range from familiar examples of adaptation such as novel and stage to screen adaptations to less recognised forms like remakes, fan fiction, and themed experiences. The journal encourages research that provides global perspectives on adaptation through diverse examples. Adaptation is published online four times each year from 2027, and features peer-reviewed articles, alongside reviews of adaptation studies books and conferences. The journal also includes reviews of relevant films, TV shows, as well as wider forms of adaptation such as theatre, videogames, and merchandise. A prize is awarded annually for the best published article by an Early Career Researcher (ECR). Comments on Adaptation ‘The Oxford University Press journal, Adaptation has been invaluable in bringing together scholars inhabiting different disciplines, nations, and theoretical viewpoints around a shared interest. It has also provided a much-needed publishing home for adaptation scholars working across lines drawn by traditional fields and disciplines.’ Kamilla Elliott , Emeritus Professor of Literature and Media, School of Arts, Lancaster University ‘Adaptation has been instrumental and groundbreaking in its advancement of adaptation studies. Publishing top-flight articles across disciplines and media, the journal continues to create new paths for scholars, realizing the exciting potentiality of the field.’ Julie Grossman, Professor of English and Communication, co-editor of the book series Palgrave Studies in Adaptation and Visual Culture ‘As the theoretical field of adaptation studies has flourished over the last decade, this journal has been in the forefront of its developments internationally. It has not only registered the field’s growth but has actively promoted its broadening in interdisciplinary directions unimaginable in earlier years. Bravo!’ Linda Hutcheon, University Professor Emeritus, Department of English, Centre for Comparative Literature, University of Toronto ‘On this twentieth anniversary, I send my hea
