*** Announcement regarding Biomaterial Investigations in Dentistry (BIiD) *** Following careful consideration, the Acta Odontologica Scandinavica Society (AOSS) has decided to discontinue the publication of its journal Biomaterial Investigations in Dentistry (BIiD) as of December 31, 2026. The journal will no longer accept new manuscript submissions from July 1, 2026. Manuscripts submitted before July 1, 2026, will be handled according to the usual editorial procedure. We extend our sincere gratitude to all who have contributed to and supported the journal over the years. Your commitment has been essential to BIiD’s development and success. “I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone who has engaged with BIiD throughout the years - authors, editors, editorial board members, reviewers and readers. I hope you will continue to follow and contribute to the scientific dialogue within Acta Odontologica Scandinavica, where the field will continue to evolve,” says the Editor-in-Chief of BIiD Anne Peutzfeldt. *** Biomaterial Investigations in Dentistry is a Diamond Open Access journal that serves as a dedicated platform for the dissemination of cutting-edge dental research within the realm of oral biomaterials science. The publishing of articles is free for authors, thanks to the support of Acta Odontologica Scandinavica Society (AOSS), a not-for-profit society. ScopeOur journal's editorial policy is rooted in a global perspective, welcoming contributions from researchers worldwide. We are committed to encompassing all fundamental and clinical dimensions of oral biomaterials science within the context of dentistry. Accepted article typesWe consider a wide array of article types to facilitate the sharing of valuable insights, including: Original articles Review articles Systematic reviews Mini reviews Brief reports Case reports Letters to the editor Editorials Conference proceedings We encourage researchers to explore and expand the boundaries of knowledge through hypothesis-driven research. In this pursuit, we favour analytical studies over descriptive ones, emphasizing articles that reveal cause-and-effect relationships in experimental studies and explanatory or associative relationships in observational studies. Review processBiomaterial Investigations in Dentistry follows a rigorous double-blind peer review policy to ensure the quality and credibility of published work.
