Academic Quarter is a peer reviewed, online, open access journal with humanistic research. The aim of the journal is to meet the demand for critical research from the humanistic in an international context. The journal covers current themes, and at the same time it will seek to create a high standard of good communication and publication of international research within the humanities. Academic Quarter has as its mission to develop and extend the traditional understanding of research within the humanities. This understanding comprises disciplines such as literature, the media, anthropology, music, sociology, psychology, gender, political science, the visual and performing arts, philosophy, linguistics, religion, and history. This humanistic scope of Academic Quarter is manifest in the archive of issues - https://journals.aau.dk/index.php/ak/issue/archive. The mission to develop research within the humanities is seen by Academic Quarter’s engagement in contemporary societal debates with an aim of having an impact on and of making a difference in the world. The humanities must take part in discussing, explaining and help solving the larger societal and cultural issues of our time. Interdisciplinarity and activism can be among the tools to reach this goal. Examples of this can be seen in earlier and recent issues such as “The challenges of art and humanities”, “Perspectives on the Anthropocene. New humanities I” and “The Aesthetics of Human Rights”. Academic Quarter has as its aim the exchange of research among international scholars, and at the same time it allows anybody to follow this exchange of the most recent research through its online and unrestricted form of publication with no fees whatsoever. The journal has a wide scope, but each issue concentrates on specific themes. Articles will be in Danish and English.
